Anibal Ollero Has Received The Rei Jaume I Award

Professor Anibal Ollero was awarded this Monday November 25th with Rei Jaume I in New Technologies. The award ceremony was held in Lonja de los Mercaderes in Valencia, and count on a jury composed of 19 Nobel Prizes and the chair of His Majesty King Felipe VI. In the videos below, Ollero receives the award from hands of Felipe VI.

Rei Jaume I award ceremony

Anibal Ollero has won the 31st King Jaume I Award in New Technologies. These awards are very prestigious counting with 19 Nobel prizes in the Jury and are endowed with 100.000 euros.

The jury awarded the leadership of Anibal Ollero  in aerial robotics and 
his priceless capability to combine excellent research and technology 
innovation with the technology transfer to companies.  The jury 
highlighted the “Invaluable ability to combine excellence in research 
and technological innovation with the transfer of technology to 
companies in the field of aerial robotics”.

The ERC Grantee Anibal Ollero

Ollero currently works as head of GRVC (Robotics, Vision and Control Group) and as scientific asessor of FADA-CATEC. In 2018 he received an ERC Advanced Grant to start the GRIFFIN Project, which aims to develop an unified framework with methods, tools and technologies for the development of flying robots with dexterous manipulation capabilities. The robots will be able to fly minimizing energy consumption, to perch on curved surfaces and to perform dexterous manipulation.

Next november 25th, in a Ceremony chaired by His Majesty King Felipe VI, at «Lonja de los Mercaderes» in Valencia, it will take place the «Rei Jaume I» awards ceremony, where Prof. Aníbal Ollero Baturone will receive the «New  technologies» award. Aníbal is the head of the GRVC Robotics Laboratory at the University of Seville, scientific advisor at the Centre for Advanced Aerospace Technologies (CATEC), IEEE Fellow and the Principal Investigator of the GRIFFIN ERC Advanced Grant. The Jury of the awards had 20 Nobel Laureates among their members.

The Jury of the «New technologies» award highlights «the invaluable capability of Prof. Aníbal Ollero to combine excellence in research and technology innovation, with technology transfer to the companies in the Aerial Robotics area».

Dissemination of GRIFFIN in IROS 2019

This year the IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robotic Systems (IROS) has been held in Macau (China) between November 4th and 8th. The GRVC head and ERC grantee Anibal Ollero in conjuction with members of the group presented several papers produced. Among these publications a paper of GRIFFIN project were presented.

This paper is entitled «Small-Scale Compliant Dual Arm With Tail for Winged Aerial Robots» and its authors are Alejandro Suárez, Manuel Pérez García, Guillermo Heredia and Aníbal Ollero.

After the first presentations of GRIFFIN at ICUAS 2019, IROS 2019 has been the next stop to show the advances of the project. The next presentations will take place at ROBOT ‘2019 in Porto (Portugal).

Anibal Ollero Will Receive The Rei Jaume I Prize On November 25th

The GRVC head Anibal Ollero won the Rei Jaume I Prize in New Technologies in June of this year. On November 25th he will collect this important spanish award in the prize-giving ceremony held in Lonja de los Mercaderes de València. This ceremony will be chaired by His Majesty the King of Spain Felipe VI and is one of the most important social events of the year in Spain.

In June the jury awarded the leadership of Anibal Ollero  in aerial robotics and his priceless capability to combine excellent research and technology innovation with the technology transfer to companies. The jury highlighted the “Invaluable ability to combine excellence in research and technological innovation with the transfer of technology to companies in the field of aerial robotics”.

The ERC grantee Anibal Ollero

Ollero currently works as head of GRVC (Robotics, Vision and Control Group) and as scientific asessor of FADA-CATEC. GRVC participates currently in nine european projects inside the H2020 framework programme and so as to several national projects as DREAM or INSPECTOR. In the last years Anibal Ollero has received another prizes as the 2017 European Radar Prize from Euronews because of the development of the AEROX prototype or the FAMA Prize from the University of Seville.
